Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the role and importance of confidential information in the activities of legal entities under the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The concept of confidential information is considered. Particular attention is paid to the importance of confidential information, legal aspects of protecting confidential data, as well as possible risks of information leaks and consequences for business. The article also notes that there are disputes related to the definition of such concepts as "know-how", "production secret" and "trade secret", which differ from each other in definition and meaning. Conclusions are made that it is necessary to regulate in national legislation and differentiate definitions based on clearly defined criteria that allow separating production secrets, know-how from the rest of the information constituting a commercial secret, and legal entities to provide mechanisms to ensure the security of confidential information, such as concluding non-disclosure agreements, using data protection technologies, etc.
