Legislation of Ukraine on the protection of rights to geographical indications: prerequisites for the emergence, status and prospects

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the legislation of Ukraine on the protection of rights to geographical indications. It reveals the historical background to the formation of legislation of Ukraine on intellectual property. The author studied the process of formation and development of the legislation on protection of rights to geographical indications, considered the key aspects of the normative regulation of rights to geographical indications in Ukraine taking into account the strategy for integration into the EU, analyzed the existing problems in the legislation, and studied the legal mechanisms, ways of implementing European standards for the protection of rights to geographical indications in the legislation of Ukraine.
